We have
a schedule of social events that will showcase the best of Detroit, rejuvenate
your mind and raise your spirit! We have so many social activities planned we
thought you’d like to see it all in one place:
Sunday
I’m going to start with Sunday afternoon first,
because I think it is so rare and exciting to have a chance to explore Detroit
from the inside. Sunday afternoon we have something very special planned. Local
raw foods chef and farmers market vendor Charma Dompreh will be creating packed
lunches for us, including her famous “Sassy Green Chips”. We will enjoy our
food at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History and then take
a personal docent tour of the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American
History by ICIM member and local expert Ann Burton MD. Please plan to linger a
little longer for this fascinating opportunity.
Wednesday
night
At 8pm we’ll be having wine and cheese and a movie
night in Suite 170 to watch an episode from Cosmos A Spacetime Odyssey where
heavy metals are the star.
Thursday
night
Happy Hour; Drinks, Docs, & Delicious Dishes from
6-7:30pm sponsored by World Nutrition in the Grosse Point Room, near the
registration area. Join Jennifer McClellan, and speaker Donese Worden, NMD to
start the weekend off with a bang!
Friday
morning
Friday morning Health Dimensions is sponsoring a
networking breakfast in the Lincoln
Room. Join Franca Gardner NP, and meet others working with Lyme disease and
Immune Dysfunction.
Friday
night
Friday night is also our Exhibit Hall Party 6-8pm,
always a fabulous time. With an open bar and open hearts, we welcome back Dr.
Dick's Good Vibes, a popular Detroit area jazz group led by our founding
member, Dr. Dick Tapert. The Sing MAHALIA Chorus” and Renee King Jackson will
be performing for our party, right outside the classroom doors. Our Exhibit reception
will feature vegan delights, and a Pina Colada station.
Buy a stretch limo ride in a Hummer for $10, the
perfect way to see Detroit. The limo will shuttle people from 7:30-10:30pm to
the free DLECTRICITY festival in Midtown. The Detroit Institute of Arts is open
until 10pm, with live music and art using the medium of light throughout the
Cultural Center Historic District. This area has the best 1920s architecture of
the city including the Detroit Public Library, Detroit Historical Museum,
The Charles H. Wright
Museum of African American History, Detroit Science Center, and the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit.
The DLECTRICITY festival will light up the neighborhood and bring thousands of
people out to enjoy art installations, theater, food trucks, and the many bars
and restaurants with a local flair.
For those with tickets, The John Parks Trowbridge dinner will begin at 8pm, and end at about 9:30pm. Your ticket price includes a trip on the Hummer limo to head downtown and enjoy the festival until after midnight. Dress code for the dinner is flexible, but not formal.

Saturday
night
ICIM membership meeting will be at 6pm in the Fairlane
Room. New members- come and be introduced!
Saturday will be quieter, but we will have an evening
activity at 8pm I’m calling “Show and Tell.” I know many attendees come with
special techniques to address pain. If you would like to demonstrate a
technique or a piece of equipment you find effective, come gather for an
informal time of sharing hosted by Jenny Rymer.
If
you do Reiki, Energy work or Prayer, please send light and blessings to our
gathering, and hold the intention that our time together will be intellectually
stimulating, emotionally nurturing, and spiritually insightful.
Sincerely,
Wendy
